is the Founder and Principal Designer of Katie Denham Interiors. Born and raised in Prairie Style house designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright in Pasadena California, Katie was exposed every day to the rich and diverse architectural history of California. Natural curiosity set Katie on a path to study Art, Architecture and Design.
Katie began her studies majoring in Fine Art at UC Santa Barbara and finished her undergraduate degree with Bachelor of Science in Business from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After a foray into the worlds of Marketing and Fashion in the Bay Area, Katie discovered her love for Interior Design. A move to the beautiful South to study Interior Design at Louisiana State University, and another move back to California ended with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Design Institute of San Diego. Katie began her practice in Interiors in Newport Beach before moving with her husband to the State Capital where she has lived ever since.
In Sacramento, Katie developed her expertise in Kitchen and Bath Design and then became the Senior Designer for a prestigious firm for many years before opening her own Design Studio in 2008.
With over 20 years of design experience, Katie has completed creatively driven hospitality designs for boutique businesses, restaurants, residential projects, and Designer Showcase Houses in Sacramento as well as the Bay Area, earning numerous ASID design awards and media mentions. Katie Denham Interiors prides itself on attention to detail and close coordination with architects, contractors and tradespeople to ensure seamless design project execution with the main goal to consistently exceed clients’ expectations.
Katie has a loyal following for her fresh approach to classic design. “Relaxed sophistication with a sense of humor” is how Katie’s work has been described. Katie believes spaces should work for how you live, connect you to your surroundings and bring happiness whenever you enter.
In her spare time, Katie continues to write for her design blog, katie d.i.d, takes full advantage of the amazing farm to fork scene in the California Capital, hunts for unique finds at the local Antique Faire and beyond, scouts for emerging artists for herself and her clients, and is constantly looking for her next adventure in travel.
Katie has just made the move to her new studio digs where she will be showing products from some of her favorite resources, many of them local. The new studio at 3400 2nd Avenue was chosen for its connection to a vibrant, creative and inspiring neighborhood. Please stop on by!
